What:
The specials teachers at VHE are hosting an afterschool event!
-
Art: Hedgestock will feature both a school-wide art show, and a 5th grade maker market! Every student at VHE will contribute to an outdoor art installation and/or will have a piece of their art on display. 5th graders are invited to make and sell crafts during the event (much like the art and craft fair of the past). Please contact Mr. Lynch with any questions: kjlynch@madison.k12.wi.us
-
Music: The Spring Sing String Recorder Thing! Students will perform our end-of-the-year concert with music they’ve been practicing and preparing in class. Every grade level will have a choral performance. In addition to the choral pieces, third and fourth graders will showcase their recorder abilities while our fifth graders will end the show with a strings performance. Students will be performing on the grassy hill directly below the playground on the kindergarten side of the building. Please bring lawn chairs, picnic blankets, and sunscreen! for our ~30 minute show (2:30-3:00 PM)! Feel free to contact Mark Ziegler (music and strings teacher) at mjziegler2@madison.k12.wi.us
-
Note: Our cello players will have their hands full with their instruments. We would immensely appreciate anyone and everyone who could help us carry a chair or two back to the music room after the show. Thanks in advance!
-
PE: VHE talent show! The time slots for the talent show have already been filled. If a student cannot make it please let me know so I can have others sign up in their spot. Please make sure you are helping your children prepare for their talent. If families could come and make sure their child is ready about 10 minutes before their time slot to ensure we can help get them setup and taken down, that would be amazing. Please reach out if you have any questions. Thanks, Sarah Sorensen snsorensen@madison.k12.wi.us
-
Library: Book Making! All VHE Hedgies and families are welcome to get creative and make their own zine. A zine is a hand-made book where you can bring your imagination to life. So come and create your own self-published book - all you need to bring is your ideas! Our 5th Graders will have an option to sign up with this form to support book making during Hedgestock and be inspirational authors and illustrators as they share their zine with the community. 5th graders will need to commit to creating their book before Hedgestock and will have some opportunities to join book making sessions in the library during their recess time. Let’s write on! Please reach out to Jennifer Follett with any questions at jafollett@madison.k12.wi.us
Ice Cream Social:
There will be an ice cream social from 5:30 to 6:30 courtesy of the Van Hise PTO. Ice cream will be free of charge, and there will be a dairy free option.
